The stone was first
mentioned in a treatise from 1701 of
Bircherod. The stone disappeared in
1823, but was recovered in 1875 by Henry
Petersen foundation in the Juel family's
burial chapel that was built for the
church. The stone was removed and placed
inside Bregninge Church, later in the
porch.
It is a typical Roman tombstone.

The stone is
Granite and 132 centimetres long,
46-53,5 centimetres wide and 30-34
centimetres high. It was made around
1200 to 1250.
The inscription:
"Swen Sazær sun liggær hæunde.
Hælge Diakæn ristæ mæk, mæstær Bo giorþæ
mæk."
Translated: Sveinn Sassurr's son
lies hereunder. Deacon Helgi carved me,
master Boi made me.
