This member of the Apocynaceae
family
was given this name by John Jacob Lavranos in 2004. It is found in Makay;
the central Madagascar, growing in a well drained soil with some water and
lots of sun. The spiny caudex can grow to 25 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to 30 centimetres in height. The flowers are yellow.
The genera name
from Greek; pachys; 'thick' and Greek podion; 'small
foot' for the thick caudiciform trunk, formed by some species. The
species name after the area it is found in: Makay. |
