This member of the Euphorbiaceae
family
was given this name by Hermann Wilhelm Rudolf Marloth in 1910. It is found in
western South Africa and southern Namibia, growing in a well drained soil with
some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to 20 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to 30 centimetres in height. The flowers are brown.
The genera is named after
Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. The
species is named means 'brown' for the flowers. |
