This member of the Euphorbiaceae
family
was given this name by Susan Carter in 1982. It is found in southern
Ethiopia, northern Kenya and south-western Somalia, growing in a well drained
gravel soil with
some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow from two to five centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to fifteen centimetres in height. The flowers are reddish.
The genera is named after
Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. The
species is named from Greek, akinos, 'ray, klados', for the
branch. |
