This member of the
Fabaceae family
was given this name by Hermann August Theodor Harms in 1903. It is found in
Angola, Botswana, Congo, Namibia, Zambia, Zaïre and Zimbabwe, growing in a well drained soil with
some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow large, the
annual branches to 75 centimetres in height. The flowers are scarlet red.
The genera name from Greek;
eryhros; 'red' for the mostly red flowers. The species is
named after Hugo Baum, 1867–1950, a German botanist who worked in
Africa, Rostock and Mexico. |
