
This big boulder of Hvalsøstenen
is
found in an open area between number 2
and 8 on Ørnevej in Hvalsø town. It is
part of an old tomb.

Meaning of the
name: I have named after the town in
which it is found, as I had no other
name. However, it is mentioned in the
old book; Danske
Kæmpesten; DK 173-1. The name Hvalsø
comes from Hwelpsyø, which meant puppy
lake, and refers to the large shallow
lake, which previously lay west of the
town.
