This big boulder of Carlsstenen
or Karlsstenen is
found 300 south of
Gronnesse Gods, where it
is the roof og the megalith grave
Grønnessedyssen. The tomb is from around
3500-3300 BC.
In 1908, Carlsstenen was selected to be
the main motif on the new Danish
five-krone banknote, issued by Danmarks
Nationalbank.

long. It is 9,7 metres in

Meaning of the
name: I suppose it is named after
Count Carl of Hesse, who owned the
estate from 1792-1804, when it passed to
Crown Prince Frederik (VI).
