| While I learn about the environment,
the different species of Vietnamese orchids have to be
identified. This is a way too waste task for me, but never
the less, I will do my very best.
According to the 2003 statistics of Russian researcher
Leonid V Averyanov and his daughter Anna L Averyanova, there
are 897 orchid species in Vietnam. No doubt; there will more
found in the future. I will seek out some of these,
spanning form the widest climatic areas I can find.
I will start at some nurseries, hoping
they will lead me to some wild habitats and reveal a bit about their
growing methods. Especially fertilizer including conductivity, pH,
light, dormant periods, temperatures night, day and year,
propagation methods and other hints. Along with that, I should get a
feeling of the different genera I hopefully will find in the wild.

Vietnam contains of different climate zones
which each host their specific species of orchids. The country can
be divided op in these areas, where the numbers refers to the map
below. I will start in the middle Da Nang (33), working my way up to the
north with the rich Sapa area in the Lao-Cai province (3), and
finish up in the deep south (63).
