On my many tours around the world, I have
encountered quite some different religions, beliefs and alike. Some claim they are
the only true one, others are more a non-religious way of life.
They do shape the society and the people, and despite I have not really explored
it close, I have made this list. It is fare from complete, and some humour might
have crept in. Each have their own page with a short introduction.
It seems like the religion do shape the
society quite a lot in some areas, where others are less or not affected
at all. In the past, religion had a way deeper impact on the society in
many areas. Some are now way more shaped by present days "modern
religions" like greed and digitalism.
Some of the
religions mentioned on these pages are ancient, and have not survived
the introduction of new religions, or the people who practiced them have
vanished.
This list is fare from complete, and many
religions have branched out through time. I try to cover the present
day's most expanded believes, but some of the ancient are mentioned as
well.
Some are a bit hard to find
information about, others have conflicting information. Some have countless
sub-branches like saints, which are praised like individual gods.
These pages are in no way made to
offend anyone, as I believe; any believe is up to the individual person. That
said, I know I might have stirred the hornet's nest, but the information is mend
to create understanding, not conflicts. |
