The flooded lava field
This rather dark setup is an attempt to create
something resembling a flooded lava field. Only a few pioneer plants,
plenty of lava. Like the plants, shrimps are among the first to move in.

THE THOUGHTS
I just can't resist, building something with lava. It is rock, but easy to cut
into shape, and the plants love it. The back is covered in a thin
layer, and the middle dominated by a few "boulders", while the button is covered
in gravel.
THE BUILD
I cut the lava into shape, and glue it together with silicone. It is supposed to appear rather barren.
The grass and Monte Carlo is stock in-between stones, while the Bladderwort start on
sphagnum, but do fine in the gravel.
The second-hand giant cognac glass, was a gift from a friend. I got two; this one
without a foot. The lit from a glass of olives do fine as replacement, and now,
it fit in fine under some other glasses. A bit less light, but that is exactly
how I (and the Monte-Carlo) like it.
The plants cuttings are from other aquariums,
the shared background, light and shelf €5 and the lava, I had to go to Iceland
to find (which was a bit expensive). The shrimps is my own, red off-springs, and
the magnets €2. A total of less than €7 - and a tour to Iceland.
In an effort the have the glasses equipped
with the most different plants for a various appearance, I exchanged the Grass
with an Anubias. Not really resembling any Icelandic plants, though...

After half a year. Same water
