FEMTO AQUARIUM # 5
- The mountains in a glass

                     The Devil's Fingers
This time, I've been thinking of some pointy mountains, surrounded by lush meadows.  It should appear light and sunny, and you can imagine the kite, screaming above. It might just be a Copepod and a few of my own brown shrimps you see though...

                                                  THE THOUGHTS
This is a real simple construction, but still resample some pointy, basalt centres of ancient volcanoes . Plenty of light, and only a few plants in-between. Unfortunately, the Marimo algae decided to join in, starting from spores on the rocks. Even on the glass, these "starters" are real hard to remove.
I seen photos of some real great looking aquariums with this theme - but they were around 300 L. I wished I had smaller plants...
                                                        THE BUILD
The rocks are, for a first, glued to the glass. I use silicone, and realises; this might be the last setup in this cognac glass! Some gravel in-between covers the roots of the few plants, stitched to slightly larger pebble.
And a warning: The crystal glass and granite is not really a match, made in heaven. Further more, trying to polish semi-dry silicone of a glass, is not a bright idea.
The second hand cognac glass was €1,50, the lit €1, the plants shared with other aquariums around €2. Part of the silicone tube around €3. The shared LED light, shelf and background €5: A total of €12,50.
After half a year, I gave up: The Marimo Algae became way too aggressive and impossible to eradicate.

Still lacking a few plants, but with a nice morning mist in the valleys.
