This member of the Fabaceae family was described by
Paul Hermann Wilhelm Taubert in 1894.
It is from the eastern part of Africa, growing in rich soil with lots of
water and sun. The caudex can grow to 30 centimetres in diameter and 45
centimetres long. The thin branches can reach from 25 to 125
centimetres. The flowers, which usually occurs before the leaves, are
violet to blue.
The genera name means 'long'
after the fruits. The species name after the mountain.
