This member of the Crassulaceae family was given this name by Hellmut
R. Tolken 1978.
It's from Namibia and western South Africa, growing in grit on the mountainsides. Little water
and much sun. The stem can grow to ten or twelve centimetres in
diameter, the whole plant can grow to 25 or even 30 centimetres in
height. The striped flowers are orange to brown with a green base
and might appear yellow as well. The genera name
is an anagram of Cotyledon; a closely-related genus. The
species name after William Henry Pearson, 19th century
hepaticologist and yarn agent.
This is a
winter-grower.
