Jacquin in 1789. It is
found in South Africa and Namibia, growing in a well drained soil

two and a half centimetres in diameter, the whole plant from ten to
fifty centimetres height. The flowers are yellow with green lines. The
genera name from Greek: ornithos; 'bird' and gala; 'milk'.
The species name means 'with a sweet fragrance'.
*)Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016, Hyacinthaceae

now part of
the Asparagaceae. |
