This member of the
Euphorbiaceae family
was given this name by Emilio Chiovenda in 1951. It is found in Ethiopia
and Kenya, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to
five centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to 30 centimetres in height. The flowers are greenish white with a pale yellow
interior.
The genera name
from the Greek monos;
'one' and -aden; 'gland', referring to the solitary gland.
The species name means 'bent back abruptly'. |
