Cucurbitaceae family was
given this name by Charles Jeffrey in 1962. It is found in Ethiopia,
Kenya, Somalia and northern Tanzania, growing in forest and bush land a well
drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to 30
centimetres, the vines up to ten centimetres thick and twelve metres
long. The flowers are greenish yellow.
The genera name from Greek
kedrostis, 'white Bryony', the ancient name of a scrambling
cucurbit. The species name means 'a false

gijef'. |
