This member of the Euphorbiaceae
family
was given this name by Susan Carter in 2000. It is found in Garissa in
eastern Kenya, growing in a well drained soil with
some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to eight centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to 30 centimetres in height. The flowers are yellow to pinkish orange while the
fruits are red.
The genera is named after
Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. The
species is named from Latin; per-; 'through' and vittata;
'striped longitudinally' for the branches. |
