This member of the
Euphorbiaceae family
was given this name by Eugčne Ursch and Jacques D. Leandri in 1955. It is found in
in the coastal hills of Lac Bleu in north-eastern Madagascar, growing in a well drained soil with
some water and not that much sun sun. The caudex can grow to
four centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to 80 centimetres in height. The flowers are greenish white or reddish.
The genera name; Euphorbia
dates back to the first century BC, where King Juba II of
Mauritania used it in a reference to his doctor, Euphorbos, and that
name was kept as a generic name by Carl von Linnaeus. The species name
is named in honour of the French arachnologist Prof. Jacques Millot,
1897-1980. |
