This member of the Burseraceae family was given this name by Joseph Marie Henry Alfred Perrier de la Bāthie in 1944. It is found on Madagascar, and I GUESS it will prefer a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. I THINK the stem can grow to 25 centimetres in diameter and reach two meters.

The genera name from Greek kommi; 'gum' and Greek -phoros; 'carrying' for the balsam-like scented resin. The species name means 'looking like cole'
