This member of the Montiaceae family was given this name by Frank J. Obbens in 2006. It is found in Western Australia, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to 1,5 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant from two to 8,5 centimetres in height. The flowers are pale pink to pink with a white throat.

The genera was named for Jean Louis Calandrini, 1703-1758, a Genevan botanist. The species name after the town of Kalannie, where it was found nearby, the first time.
