And more below...

This member of the Gesneriaceae family is found in eastern Brazil. It was given this name by
Hans Joachim Wiehler in 1978. It doesn't need much water, but a lots of sun. The flowers are red. The caudex will grow to eight centimetres or way more, the stem to 40 centimetres.

I got the seeds from Tsuh Yang in New York. He found them in Rio de Janeiro, RJ State, Brazil 2001. He writes: "...as for bulbosa's tuber, it is light coloured (sort of like ginger root) and it grows on rocks in beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Some of those I saw, were at least 5 kgs, very big".

The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name referring to the bulbs.

Sub-family: Gesnerioideae, Tribe: Gloxineae.
