This member of the Pedaliaceae family was
given this name by Heinrich Gustav Adolf Engler in 1897. It is found in
Ethiopia, Tanzania, Somalia and northern Kenya, growing in a well
drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The stem can grow
to 28 centimetres in diameter and reach a height of two to six
metres. The flowers are white to brownish white with a reddish
throat. The genera name
means 'Sesamun bush' a member of the same family. The species name
is named after Domenico Riva, 1856-1895, an Italian explorer and
naturalist. |
