This member of the
Hypoxidaceae family was given this name by Théophile Alexis Durand
and
Hans Schinz in 1894. It is found in southern South Africa, growing
in sand, clay or a mix, with some water and little to some sun. The
bulb grow to one centimetre, the leaves to five centimetres.
The genera name is derived from
the Greek Pauros; 'small' and idia; 'dim', relating to
the small size of some of the species in the genus. The species name
also means 'minute' or 'tiny'. |
