This member of the
Passifloraceae family was described by Willem Jan
Jacobus Oswald de Wilde
in 1971. It is found on the rocky savannas of Zimbabwe, growing in a well drained soil with
some water and lots of sun. The stem can grow up to 50 centimetres
in diameter, the whole small tree reach six and a half meters. The
flowers are greenish and white.
The name Adenia
is derived from aden, meaning gland, and pertains to the glands
found on leaves of most of the species.
