This is probably a Zephyranthes, member of the Amaryllidaceae family. It was found in
the northern Argentina, growing on large, rather sloping hills. The 2,5
centimetres onion was buried 7 centimetres deep, the flower is
white.
The genera name is derived
from the Green Ζέφυρος Zephyrus, the Greek god of the
west wind, and ἄνθος anthos, meaning 'flower', referring
to the slender stalks ., a classical name compounded to indicate the
western origin.
