This member of the Talinacaea family
was given this name by Roger Charles Carolin in 1985. It is found in
north-western Argentina and Bolivia, growing in a well drained soil or
even grit with some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to
one or two centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to seven centimetres in height. The flowers are pale yellow to yellow.
The genera name is
derived from the Senegalese name for a certain species in Senegal. The
species name for
the vegetation it is found in; puna.
