This dioecious member of the Cucurbitaceae family was described by Monique Keraudren in 1960. It is found on Madagascar, growing in very well drained soil with some water, some sun and a rather high humidity. The tuberous roots will grow to four centimetres in diameter, the vines to 80 centimetres. The flowers are pale yellow or greenish, and it can be reproduced both by seeds and cuttings, which will form a caudex.

The genera is named after A. Seyrig, a French entomologist. The species is named for its slender branches.

Needs a rather high air-humidity.
