This tiny member of the Peperomiaceae
family was
given this name by Guillermo Pino in 2011. It is found in western
Peru at around 3300 meters height, growing in a well
drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The caudex can
grow to 4,5 centimetres in diameter while the leaves only reach two
centimetres in height. The flowers are greenish white.
The genera name means
'pepper-like', not as to appearance but as to kinship. The
species name means 'tiny'.
')Accordantly to the latest taxonomic system; APG IV 2016 is
Peperomiaceae
now part of
the Piperaceae. |
