Peperomia placeresana, Trel.
This member of the Peperomiaceae*
was given this name by Guido Mathieu in 2011. It is found in south-western
Mexico, growing in a rich soil with quite some water and none to little sun. The caudex can grow to
0,8 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to five centimetres in height. The flowers are white to greenish white.
The genera name means
'pepper-like', not as to appearance but as to kinship. The species
name refers to the white to creamy adaxial nervation pattern
of the leaves, a distinct feature of this species.
