This member of the
Hyacinthaceae family was given this name by Michele Tenore in
1831. It is found
in southern Europe, Asia
Minor and north Africa, growing in a well drained soil with
some water and little to some sun. The caudex can grow to three
centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to ten or even fifteen centimetres in
flowers are white.

The species name means 'straight leaves'.
