This dioecious member of the Cucurbitaceae family was described by
Monique Keraudren in 1980. It
is found on Madagascar, growing in a well drained soil with quite
some water and not too much sun. The caudex will grow to one meter in diameter,
the vines up to ten metres. The flowers are greenish white.
The genera name from Latin
odus; 'scent' and the Green sicyos; cucumber. The species
name after Jean M. Bosser,
1922-2013, a French botanist and agronomical
engineer, working on Madagascar. |
