This member of the Moraceae
family was given this name by Paul Carpenter Standley in 1917. It is
found in central America. It grows in a well drained
soil with some to lots of water and some to lots of sun. The stem can grow to
80 centimetres in diameter, the tree
reaches fifteen meters height. The flowers are green.
The genera name originates
from the old Latin name for Ficus carica which was from the
Persian word fica. The species name
after Edward A. Goldman, 1873-1946, an US-American botanist. |
