This member of the Euphorbiaceae
was given this name by Adolar Gottlieb Julius Herre in 1950. It is found in
Carlisle Bridge; Eastern Cape in South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with
some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to six centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to 11 centimetres in height - larger in culture. The flowers are yellow.
The genera is named after
Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. The
species is from Latin; superus; 'above'.
