This member of the Anacardiaceae
was
given this name
by Paul Carpenter Standley in 1923. It is found on
Baja California, Mexico, growing in a well drained soil with some
water and lots of sun. It will get a stem that is 20 to 30
centimetres in diameter and the plant can grow up to two or even six
metres in height. It can
be reproduced both by seeds and cuttings. The fruits and seeds can
be eaten, hence the species name.
The genera name from Latin,
meaning 'crooked seedpods'. The specie name means 'eatable'. |
