This member of the Gesneriaceae family was
given this name by Hans Joachim Wiehler in 1975. It is found in south and south-eastern Brazil, growing in a rich soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow up to eight centimetres in diameter and the whole plant will raise for up to fifteen centimetres. The flowers are red. 

The genera is named after Wilhelm Sinning,1792–1874, a gardener of the Botanische Gärten der Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. The species name in honour of Daniel Cooper 1817-1842, British botanist.
