This member of the
Fabaceae was given this name by David J. Du Puy in 1995. It is found on
Madagascar, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots
of sun. The plant can grow up to 60 centimetres with a stem of
fourteen centimetres. The flowers are bright yellow, and the plant can be
reproduced both by seeds and cuttings.
The genera name is the Latin form
of the Arabic word for a 'thorny bush'. The species name means 'of
noon, mid-day' when it flowers.
