This member of the Moringaceae family was given this name by
Emilio Chiovenda in 1917. It is found
in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia, growing in a grit and other well drained soil with
some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to 30
centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to three metres in
height. The
flowers are yellow with red tinge
The genera name from the Malabar
vernacular name; Moringo. The species name is named after
Domenico Riva, 1856-1895, an Italian explorer and naturalist. |
