This little member of the Hyacinthaceae family was given this name by
Winsome Fanny Barker in 1987. It is found
in Bitterfontein in the western part of the Cape Province in South Africa, growing in a well drained soil with
some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to two
centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to four centimetres in
height. The
flowers are white. The
genera name is in honour of the Swiss botanist Prof. Werner de
Lachenal (Warnerus de la
Chenal )1739-1800. The species name means 'very small'.
