This member of the Capparaceae
family was given this name by Joseph Dalton Hooker in 1881. It is found in
Cameroon, Central African
Republic, Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Sierra
Leone, Uganda and Za´re, growing in a well drained
soil with some to lots of water and some sun. The stem get up to 30
centimetres in diameter and the small tree can reach a height of
five metres. The flowers are green.
The genera name from Latin; eu-;
'good' or 'well developed' Adenia. The species name meaning
'standing out' or 'distinguished'.
