This little member of the Moraceae
family was described by Georg August Schweinfurth in 1862. It is found in East
Africa, growing in a rich soil with some water and little sun. The caudex
can grow up to four centimetres, the leaves five centimetres. The
flowers are green and brown.
The genera is named after Theodor
Dorsten, 16th century German botanist and medical professor at
Marburg. The species is named after Adalbert von Barnim, 1841-1860,
dead in Ad-Damazin, Blue Nile, Sudan at 19 years of age.
