This member of the Cucurbitaceae
family was given this name by Monique Keraudren in 1966. It is found on
Madagascar, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some
sun. The caudex can grow to 25 centimetres or more, the vines will
reach three metres. The flowers are yellow.
The genera name from Latin;
corallum; 'coral' and Greek; karpos; 'fruit' for the red
fruits. The species name after Joseph Marie Henry Alfred Perrier de
la Bāthie, 1873-1958, a French botanist who specialized in the
plants of Madagascar. |
