This member of the Cucurbitaceae
family was described by Georg August Schweinfurth and then given this
name by Albert Deflers in 1895. It is found in Oman, Somalia and
Yemen, growing in grit or an
other well drained soil with little water and some sun. The stem can
grow to eight centimetres in diameter and the entire plant reach a height of 30
centimetres or even one meter. The flowers
The genera name from Latin;
corallum; 'coral' and Greek; karpos; 'fruit' for the red
fruits. The species name from Latin glomero; 'ball' or
'round' and florus; '-flowered.
