This member of the Nyctaginaceae family was
given this by Johann Friedrich Gustav von Eschscholtz in 1926. It is found on the coast of
British Columbia, California, Oregon, Washington; US, growing in sand with some water and lots of sun. The
tuberous roots will grow up to ten centimetres in diameter and 50
centimetres long. The vines will crawl over the sand, and reach for
up to two meters. The flowers are bright yellow.
The genera name means 'neat'
refrain to the leaves. The species name means 'wide-leaved'. |
