This member of the Talinacaea family was given this name by J.N. Rose and P.C. Standley in 1911. It is found in western and central Mexico and Arizona in the USA, growing in a well drained soil with some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to 1,5 centimetres in diameter, the entire plant from two to five centimetres in height. The flowers are yellow.
