This member of the Euphorbiaceae
was given this name by Nicholas Edward Brown in 1915. It is found in the Great
Karas Mountains in south-eastern Namibia, growing in a well drained soil with
some water and lots of sun. The caudex can grow to eight centimetres in diameter, the entire plant
to ten centimetres in height. The flowers are green and white.
The genera is named after
Euphorbos, the Greek physician of King Juba II of Numidia. The
species is named from Latin baliola; 'dark chestnut-brown' in
reference to the colour of the glands.
