This member of the Vitaceae family was given this name by Hiram Wild & Robert Bailey Drummond in 1961. It is found in Congo and Zambia, growing in a well drained soil with some water and some sun. The caudex can grow to fifteen centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to two metres in height. The flowers are red.
