This member of the Rubiaceae family was given this name by Camilla Rose Huxley and Matthew H. P. Jebb in 1990. It is found in Papua New Guinea, growing as an epiphyte with quite some water and some to lots of sun. The caudex can grow to 25 centimetres in diameter and 18 high, the few, rarely branched  stems to 15 centimetres in length. The flowers are white.
